Posted on: 24 January 2017

Innovation is considered as key to success as it provides a competitive edge. The same statement is considered true for the cosmetic industry. The industry is on the path of exponential growth with Europe being the world leader. According to the statistics, the net worth of European Cosmetic industry is Euro 72 billion. The previous year has witnessed the growth of this industry at a rate of 3.1 % as compared to 2 %. These stats suggest that this industry has tremendous potential and will remain on the path of progress in the upcoming years.  Though the future of this industry is bright but the introduction of new cosmetic laws has given rise to new challenges. The new regulations have a direct influence on the innovation and development of new products. Coming on to the latest developments, the regulatory authority has put a ban on the animal testing. The introduction of this law has restricted the use of animals for the testing purpose. Now the major question is whether this law is considered as a hurdle in the innovation and development of new cosmetics or is it a big step forward for cruelty free world. The major challenge that crops up with the introduction of this law is what are the possible alternatives to the animal testing ban.
