Responsible for the EMEA, CIS and Indian markets, Europa Crown supplies oilseed preparation, solvent extraction and edible oil refining equipment, associated engineering, field and aftermarket services to provide clients with a complete solution for their oilseed processing needs.

Having completed a Mechanical Engineering Degree in Hull, Kevin has been involved in the edible oil industry since 2004, promoting Crown technologies since March 2016.

Dr Caroline Midgley, is the Director of Oleochemicals and Biofuels Research at LMC International, a   firm providing economic, marketing, and consulting services for a broad range of industries related to agricultural commodities and their downstream derivatives. She is based in Oxford and supported by LMC’s oilseeds, grains, sugar and starch teams. Her work includes investment appraisal projects for new plants, assessing the impact of changes in domestic policies, analysis of agricultural raw materials, and an analysis of the impact of technological developments.

Born in 1981, Warsaw, Poland. Graduate zootechnical faculty at University of Life Sciences (SGGW) in Warsaw and postgraduate studies in functioning of the European Union and Political Sciences. In the beginning of his career associated with agricultural organizations. In 2008-2010 he was a representative of the National Council of Agricultural Chambers at the Committee of Professional Agricultural Organizations COPA in Brussels, Belgium. In 2010 he awarded the honorary badge by Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development “Distinguished for agriculture”. Since 2011 he has been the Director General of the Polish Chamber of Biofuels (KIB) and since March 2011 is also a Member of the Board of KIB. Since June 2015 he is also Adam Stępień Director General of the Polish Association of Oil Producers (PSPO). Vice chair of the Working Group “Bioenergy/biotechnology” at COPA-COGECA Committees in Brussels. From 2015 on behalf of PSPO Member of the Executive Board of European Association of Oil Producers FEDIOL. Author of numerous publications and articles in the field of agriculture, renewable energy and transport biofuels.

Christoph Sippel born in 1972 is a state-certified food chemist (University of Hamburg). He is working for Eurofins Analytik GmbH in Hamburg since 2000. Between 2005 and 2012 he was head of the sensory department and since 2013, Christoph is working as Business Development Manager Sensory Science. He is responsible for the development and management of product-related sensory panels e.g. olive oil. Planning and conception of sensory projects and seminars also belong to his working fields. Christoph is a member of the German Agricultural Society (DLG e.V) and since 2007 he is a DLG expert for various product areas e.g. olive oils & fats as well as Deputy Chairman of the DLG Sensory Committee.

Dr Ahmad Kushairi Din

Dr Ahmad Kushairi Din is the Director-General of the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) since July 2016. Datuk Dr Kushairi graduated with a B.Agric.Sc (UPM), two MSc (UKM and LSU) and a PhD (UKM) in quantitative genetics. He is a pioneer of MPOB (formerly PORIM) since establishment of the organization in 1979. Datuk Dr Kushairi specializes in oil palm breeding and quantitative genetics, where together with his team of breeders, bred 13 new varieties and prospected oil palm germplasm in its centres of origin in Africa and South America. He is a member of the teams that transferred 32 new technologies for commercialization, filed four patents, developed or revised seven ISO-accredited Malaysian Standards, organized more than 60 conferences and seminars. He also co-supervised PhD and MsC students in quantitative genetics. He edited conference proceedings and scholarly manuscripts; authored and co-authored 270 publications. He is well connected with the scientific community and the oil palm industry, and consultant to plantation companies. Datuk Dr Kushairi is a Fellow of Academy of Science Malaysia. He sits as Board of Directors in Ministries and government-linked companies. Datuk Dr Kushairi had served MPOB nearly four decades.

Dr Mario Bernardini is a chemical engineer with an extensive experience in the Oils & Fats industry. He is currently Chairman of CMBITALY-TECHNOILOGY, an international engineering company active in the field since 1950 and specialized in the design and manufacturing of plants for Edible Oils Extraction and Refinery, Oleochemicals, Biodiesel Production and Used Mineral Oil Re-refining. Under Mario Bernardini’s leadership, 1400 units has been installed all over the world in more than 50 countries. Together with his father Ernesto Bernardini, he wrote several books about Oilseeds Oils and Fats that have become a landmark in the study of Chemical Engineering, especially in the field of vegetable Oils & Fats.

Dr Stéphanie Marty-Terrade studied food science and engineering at the National School of Chemistry and Physics at Bordeaux, France and has 14 years’ experience in Lipid Science. Following a PhD in food science from the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, she joined Nestlé Research in 2007. Her expertise covers application of lipids in diverse product categories such as culinary, baby food and confectionery, raw material specification, manufacturing and sourcing, chemical and physical characterization. Currently, she is working at Nestlé Research in York, United Kingdom where she is responsible for confectionery lipids used by the whole Nestlé group.

Dr Christian Gertz was director of the Official Institute of Chemical and Food Analysis in Hagen.

His experience in fats and oils extends over 35 years. Since 2013 he is leader of the department of research and development of Maxfry GmbH in Hagen. Since 1997 he has co-chaired the Analysis and Standard Methods division of German Society for Fat Science (DGF) and has been responsible for the editing of the DGF Standard Methods for many years. He is member of the “Joint Committee for the Analysis of Fats, Oils, and Fatty Products” of DIN, Federal Health Office and DGF. He is also involved with various International working groups in Europe and the German Sensory Panel of Olive Oil. He has published more than 70 scientific papers including 5 book chapters and edited 2 books. His area of research includes all aspects of oil processing (analytics, HACCP, sensory analysis, NIR, oxidative and thermoxidative degradation, fat quality) and analysis of fats and oils focused on olive oil and the development of chemometric methods to Identify fats and oils.

His awards include: in 1982, the Josef Schormüller Foundation by the German Food Chemical Society and in November 2004 he received the Normann Medal by the German Society for Fat Research (DGF)

After graduating high school in Bad Windsheim 2004, Carolin Edinger studied Chemistry at Johannes-Gutenberg University – Mainz. After finishing her diploma thesis “Influence of Dicationic Ammonium Salts on the Electrochemical Deoxygenation of Amides” beginning of 2011 she continued her research about organic electrochemical reduction on lead cathodes during her PhD studies. She earned her PhD for researching “Electrochemical Deoxygenation of Amides and Related Compounds at Decorated Lead Cathodes” in 2015. Since beginning of 2016 she works as Product Manager at Anton Paar. Anton Paar develops, produces and distributes highly accurate laboratory instruments and process measuring systems. Matching her chemical education she is responsible for oxidation stability testing devices. Exploring application is one of her core businesses.

Olive Oil Maker and Olive Oil Business Consultant, Marco is leading several olive oil projects all over the world. He gained his technical experience in the field of milling olives in Tuscany since he was seventeen years old. After qualifying in economics, he has been dedicated to agriculture and his passion: olive oils. He is an extra virgin olive oil taster and a professional olive oil maker since 2001. At that time he was leading the organic production of BIOLIVE, Argentina, running an orchard of 3,700 acres and a mill of ten tons per hour capacity. In 2006 he founded SCANU OLIVICULTORI, his olive business & consulting company, creating new extra virgin olive oils such us Olivos Patagonicos, D’Isola in Argentina, and was also the quality manager in Colinas de Garzon and Olivares de Rocha, Uruguay, and General Manager in Dievole, Tuscany, Italy.

Now he is operating as an international consultant. His specialized consultancy focuses on extra virgin olive oil high quality production, projecting and consultancy for olive orchard management, projecting and consultancy for olive mills management, chemical and sensorial analysis, blends for international markets, personalized sensorial profile for company brands, training and marketing.

Arthur vom Hofe is working as Sales and product Manager at CPM Europe BV, a California Pellet Mill subsidiary near Amsterdam – the Netherlands for more than 27 years and has an extensive experience in all aspects concerning pelleting and particle size reduction processes.

Specialized in the Oilseed applications since 2005 he is involved in the frontline, representing the company for cracking, flaking, pelleting and grinding equipment for the oilseed preparation area in the EMEA region.

Arthur vom Hofe can be found frequently as a speaker at short courses and conferences on subjects concerning pelleting and particle size reduction, and hopes to share his passion for this technology, when informing you about the latest developments in the Flaking and Cracking processes.

Arthur vom Hofe holds an Engineering Degree from the “Hoge School Den Hague”, is Dutch by nationality, 52 years of age and married having two daughters.

Buss revolutionized the oleochemical market in the early 1950’s through the introduction of the Buss Loop® Reactor for hydrogenation of fats and oils. The BLR dramatically improved productivity and product quality for many applications are were employed throughout the world in the following several decades. Today, the BLR is also used to produce a wide range of oleochemical derivatives.

Dr Ole Winkelmann

Dr Ole Winkelmann obtained his PhD in Organic Chemistry (University of Kiel) in 2009. Since 2012 he is working at the NMR facility of Eurofins Analytik GmbH in Hamburg. His work focuses on the analysis of different food commodities by 1H-NMR with a particular emphasis on olive oils. A recent achievement of his work in method development is the launch of a now well-established analytical method for the classification of olive oils according to their geographical origin (Eurofins Profiling, accredited according to ISO 17025).

He is now the OSR HOLL Business lead for EME.

José Angel Olivero Garcia has served as the Sales Director for Lípidos Santiga, S.A since 1996. Prior to this, he worked in the sales department for Cargill España, S.A from 1989 until joining Lípidos Santiga in 1996. He has over 28 years of professional experience in the Oilseeds, Oils and Fats industry including international experience in the Trade of Oils & Fats for the food, feed and oleochemical sectors. He has participated as Speaker & Panelist in many international events, like Palm Oil Trade Seminar-POTS, Andalusian Commodity Exchange, High Oleic Oils Congress, APK&, Fedepalma. Also, he attended many events worldwide related to Oils and fats worldwide, like Fie, Anuga, Sial, Alimentaria, ISM, Gulfood, RSPO,IFT and POC for 15 years, participating as exhibitor in many of them. He started his career with Nickelhuette Aue GmbH in 2013 as Area Manager Asia Pacific. Ben is in charge for NHA’s activities in the Asian market and specializes in the procurement of raw materials from the region. Ben is responsible for establishing, maintaining and developing NHA’s recycling service with local clients and partners. He can provide following services to clients – pricing and metal evaluation, supply strategies, logistics, legal and technical recommendation.

Waut Dooghe obtained his professional bachelor’s degree in chemistry at the university college of KHK Geel, Belgium and started working at Kemin Food Technologies EMEA in Herentals, Belgium in 2003.

For more than 15 years he gained extensive experience in lipid oxidation in food applications and studied the effect of antioxidants and flavourings as shelf life solutions for food in applied research projects. In recent years he was project leader in the development of FORTI-FRY™, a natural antioxidant to extend the frying life of frying oils.

Steve Csonka is the Executive Director of CAAFI (the Commercial Aviation Alternative Fuels Initiative, www.caafi.org) an industry partnership fostering the development and commercialization of sustainable alternative jet fuels (SAJF).  CAAFI engages in public-private-partnership activities designed to assist in bringing together the group of participants needed to stand up an entirely new industrial sector.

Steve is a commercial aviation professional with 32 years of broad, strategic airline and aviation OEM experience. For the last decade, Steve has been a strong industry advocate who has worked in roles of developing pragmatic solutions to the challenges of aviation growth, and that interest led him to the accepting the current CAAFI role in 2012.  He continues to serve in leadership, steering committee, consultancy, and BOD roles with multiple aviation industry organizations in areas of applying technology and business concepts to enable environmental progression with SAJF.
