Sebastian miksa |
Mr. Sébastien MIKSA started his career at L’Oréal in R&I Lipstick, R&I Foundation and R&I Photoprotection departments and gained in parallel a Chemistry engineer degree and a Master’s degree – Formulated product engineering – at the University of Technology of Compiègne (UTC), France. Involved in sunscreen testing for several years at HelioScreen, he has held various positions as R&D Engineer, Laboratory Manager and General Manager and acquired profound knowledge in sun protection field. He published plenty papers concerning innovations in this field such as the robotic spreading, the new reproducible sandblasted plates and the multi-substrates approach for in vitro SPF assessment. Furthermore, he is member of AFNOR/S91KGT07 (Sun Protection Test Methods), CEN/TC 392/WG 004 (Efficacy including sun protection products), ISO/TC 217/WG 7 (Cosmetics – Sun Protection Test Methods) and Bipea/Technical Group (Sun protection products – SPF in vivo – UVA in vivo – UVA in vitro). |

Jørgen Gade Hyldgaard |
Jørgen is the director, consultant and owner at Hygade Aps since 2002. He has been a High School teacher at High school for Nurses in Børkop. He has also worked as Quality manager and Laboratory Chief at Flügger, Kolding. He has also served as the Production Manager and Cosmetics Technical Director at Plum Hudsikkerhed. He has done plenty of research in the fields of Skin and safety, Skin and hygiene, Production hygiene, preservation, Ecology, Education of the next generation of specialists in Cosmetic Chemistry and related subjects, Advanced technologies, etc. Jørgen holds a Masters degree in business administration from Business School, Kolding. He did Postgraduate course in toxicology from Pharmacological Institute, University of Copenhagen. He also did a Course in Safety Assessment of Cosmetics in the EU, Brussels 2002 and 2008. Other than this, Jørgen is a Member of SCS, Scancos, Sepawa, ESCD, ISBS, FRI, DI, SPT, IAK, Cosmetic Consultants Europe. |

Dr Iva Dolečková
|
Dr Iva Dolečková received her PhD in biochemistry at Palacky University in Olomouc, Czech Republic, in the field of anti-cancer research. Her work received the Dean’s Award and Sanofi Award in Pharmacy. In 2012 she joined Contipro a.s. company and started working in the area of skin physiology and development of new anti-ageing actives. She received the Best Young Researcher Award during Cosmetic Innovation Days in 2013. In 2015 Dr. Dolečková became head of the Anti-ageing Actives R&D department and participated in projects which were awarded with the Best Innovation Award at the Cosmetic Innovation Days 2016 and at the IFSCC Conference 2017. She also collaborates with schools and universities, where she supervises PhD and diploma theses as well as various high school projects. She is a member of the Czech Society of Cosmetology and an author of many scientific and industry papers. |

Benoit Cadars |
Benoît Cadars is a versatile Biochemistry and Biotechnologies engineer who has been working in Cosmetic Industry for five years. He began his career as Scientific and Research Associate at Laboratoire Bioderma. He started out as the liaison between the Marketing and the Research departments where he managed projects and did bibliographical research. Now his main focus is the popularization of complex scientific concepts and the communication of those concepts in order to ensure that marketing messages remain true to the facts. |

Grace Abamba |
Grace is currently certification scheme manager for consumer products at BRC Global Standards, based in the UK. Grace’s career in the consumer products industry started as a chemist in research and development, formulating novel personal care and household products with Johnson Wax and later Sara Lee Household and Personal Care. Grace then joined the retailer sector, qualified as a lead auditor working as a technical manager with Superdrug and Tesco to develop own brand products and manage suppliers. As senior quality assurance manager at QVC UK, Grace managed the quality and regulatory compliance of premium beauty and food brands. Grace who has over 20 years’ experience in the personal care industry is a qualified teacher(PGCE), holds the SCS diploma in cosmetic science, an honours degree in biochemistry and pharmacology from Aston University and a master’s degree in biotechnology and applied molecular biology from UCL. Grace currently serves on the scientific programme and publicity& recruitment committees, and as vice president of the Society of Cosmetic Scientist UK. |

Dr Emilio Simeone |
Many people in the business and hi-tech community consider Emilio Simeone an example of applied researcher who has turned into a serial hi-tech start-upper. Emilio has over fifteen years of experience in the field of environmental monitoring, atmospheric modelling and remote sensing from electro-optical sensors. He has over fifteen years of experience in the field of environmental monitoring techniques, atmospheric modelling and optical remote sensing. He earned a Degree (MSc) degree in Physics from the University of Pisa and a PhD in Applied Optics from the University of Florence with a PhD Thesis on environmental photo-dermatology. He is the author of several papers in the fields of solar radiation measurement and optical characterization of dermatological features. |

Dr Radhia M’Kacher |
Dr M’kacher has worked in the field of radioprotection of population exposed to genotoxic agents for nearly 20 years directing projects focused on telomere dysfunction and DNA repair mechanisms. She began her career in Gustave Roussy Cancer Campus in the introduction of cytogenetic biological dosimetry in nuclear medicine. In the hematology department, she has promoted the predictive and prognostic factors in the occurrence of secondary cancer. In 2010, she joined Commissariat of Atomic Energy (CEA), to participate in European project in low-dose radiation. Significant progress was made in telomere length quantification and chromosomal aberration scoring. In 2016, she created a biotechnology company, Cell Environment DNA damages R&D, to develop a new cytogenetic approaches in the quantification of telomeres and the detection of DNA damages. Dr. M’kacher earned her PhD in radiobiology and her HDR at the University of Paris XI. |

Prof. Antony Young |
Professor Young has been involved in research on the effects of ultraviolet radiation (UVR) on human skin for the past 25 years. The European Commission (EC), UK Department of Health, UK Medical Research Council (MRC), research charities and industry have funded this research. Professor Young has a long-standing interest in photoprotection, and is also currently working on vitamin D, the photobiology of different skin types and the development of natural marine sunscreens – mycosporine like amino acids (MAA). He was the coordinator of a 4-year EC €3.5-million research project, within its Framework 7 Environment and Climate Change Programme, entitled “The impact of climatic and environmental factors on personal ultraviolet radiation exposure and human health (ICEPURE)”. This multi-national project assessed the beneficial and detrimental health impacts of UVR in field studies of human populations in work and leisure situations in different European countries. Professor Young is an active member of the European Society for Photobiology (ESP) and the American Society for Photobiology (ASP), and was the winner of the ASP 2016 Research Award. He has been chairman of the British Photodermatology Group (BPG), a faculty member of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), and is currently an associate editor of Photodermatology, Photoimmunology and Photomedicine and section editor of the Journal of Dermatological Science. Professor Young is also a member of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) – Environmental Effects Assessment Panel. |

Uli Osterwalder |
Uli Osterwalder studied Chemical Engineering at ETH Zurich, Switzerland and at the University of Houston in Houston, Texas. He joined Ciba-Geigy in Basel in 1979 where he first developed a Phosgene Generator in central process development. Later he developed his leadership skills in Project Management and Process Analytics. At Ciba Specialty Chemicals Uli Osterwalder helped establish new business development in Fabric Care and Personal Care. After the acquisition by BASF SE he became Senior Marketing Manager and Scientific Adviser in Sun Care in Ludwigshafen and Duesseldorf. Since 2016 Uli Osterwalder is back in Basel, working for DSM as senior Senior Scientific Adviser suncare. He works for ISO on the development of new UV protection assessment methods and is author and co-author of numerous scientific articles and book chapters on sun protection. |
